I offer psychotherapy in a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment. I have extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on understanding the influence of the past on present behavior in order to increase self-awareness, alleviate symptoms, and help people lead more fulfilling lives.
I view the couple as a separate entity, created by the partners, with needs and processes that go beyond those of the two individuals that comprise it. I seek to understand the historic roots and current maintenance of harmful patterns in couples, in order to promote change and create more loving and supportive relationships.
Psychoanalysis differs from psychotherapy primarily in the frequency of sessions, typically four or five times per week, and potential use of the couch. Meeting more frequently allows us to work on more underlying issues that get in the way of connecting, working, and feeling better. It provides for more self-reflection, exploration, and revelation that leads to greater openness and understanding.
I am considered an "out-of-network provider" for insurance purposes, which means that clients can submit my bills to their insurance provider for reimbursement.
